LSU Football ESPN / ABC college football commentators for 2009

College Football Commentators on ESPN and ABC

There are a number of changes to the announcing crews, check the link for details. For me these are the highlights…

Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, and Erin Andrews will cover ESPN primetime.
Mark Jones and Bob Davie will cover ESPN2 primetime.

Eric Collins and Brock Huard will cover ESPNU SEC primetime. This is a new SEC slot that is in addition to, but not replacing ESPN or ESPN2 SEC primetime games.

Dave Neal, Andre Ware, and Cara Capuano will cover the SEC Network (ESPN Regional Television syndicated games), I assume the 11:21 a.m. morning slot. Yes, Dave Neal is one of the 3 Daves of JP / Raycom fame.

ABC regional
Mike Patrick demoted from ESPN primetime and will work with Craig James
Ron Franklin and Ed Cunningham
Sean McDonough and Matt Millen

Chris Fowler, Craig James, Jesse Palmer, and Erin Andrews will cover Thursday games.
Rece Davis, Mark May and Lou Holtzssss will cover midweek games.

SEC Weekly is a new show that will be covered by Cara Capuano, Matt Stinchcomb, David Pollack or Charles Arbuckle.

Tommy Tuberville will replace Mike Gottfreid on ESPNU's Inside the Polls.

Musburger and Herbstreit will continue to inspire me to track down one of the teams' radio broadcasts and synchronize it with the DVR for ABC primetime games.

IT'S ALIVE! ITS ALIVE!!!!!

Although i much prefer Spencer Halls take

Quote:
One of them, anyway. The new agreement effectively turning Jefferson Pilot/Lincoln Financial/Nigerian Space Program Television into ESPN Regional brings along one Dave, Dave Neal, who was forced to fight the other Daves to the death with the broken end of a pool cue by Norby Williamson dressed as the Joker. Neal emerged, bloodied and wild-eyed, and could be visibly shaken as he works with Andre Ware and Cara Capuano on the regionals.

Also, beware the afternoon ESPN2 game, for that is where the unspeakable horror that is Pam Ward resides...

My mute button thanks ESPN for moving Patrick out of prime time. Now if ABC would do the same with Musburger.

Right. And Bob Davie and Mike Gottfried are/have been as bad or worse at broadcasting as they were at coaching.

How do you do this? The radio always seems to be ahead of my DVR and I can't pause that. Do you run the radio through windows media or something to allow you to sync it?

Sorry, I wasn't clear on that. You're right, regular radio broadcasts are ahead of the TV. I was referring to Internet streaming broadcasts using winamp or windows media player. If I hook up the laptop's headphone jack to my home stereo, it really does sound pretty good.

It's tougher to get the video to the right spot with a cable DVR, but satellite DVRs are a lot easier to adjust by a second or two.

Just be happy you don't have to deal with the bias duo of Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson every week. They hate Alabama and LSU the most. But they love to kiss Florida's butt for some reason.

But ABC and ESPN have their group of douchebags also.

Why wouldn't we have to deal with them?

We have had more CBS games over the last few years than Bama.

LSU is on CBS about every other week it seems.

However, I very much dislike CBS broadcasts, especially Gary Danielson. Someone should take his jacket every game.

My main objection to him is that he can be overly repetitive on a topic and beat the point into the ground.

Also he sometimes makes specific conclusions based on limited information and blows it out of proportion. When Dorsey left a game with back spasms, he was on a tangent about how an adult needed to talk to Dorsey about ruining his career playing on a hurt knee.

Also he was characterizing Tebow’s phone dialing gesture as him saying “LSU fans I can’t here you” when the truth was Tebow was responding to the LSU fans who had gotten hold of his cell phone # and had been calling him all week.

Superficial observations should be made a little less passionately if you don’t have the facts.

But annoyances aside, I think he is the most knowledgeable college football analyst when it comes to spotting vulnerabilities in a defense and with explaining the strategy that a team is using.
