you know, you have to hand it to the republicans, they are not scared to say what's on their mind, like most democrats.

Even Jon Voight was in on the action, which is pretty funny, last i heard from him he was blown up in a van by the president's daughter. Almost makes me wonder if the character was loosely based on Voight himself.

Gingrich, Limbaugh, and Rove are not elected Republicans. The one that have to be reelected in a few years are trying not to look like arm-waving right-wing ideologues to an increasingly moderate electorate.

What's amusing to me is that the same people who are so quick to proclaim the Obama presidency a failure are the same ones saying that only history would determine the performance of the Bush era. Ha!

there were a few elected republicans in that piece who sounded like the above.

but it seems to me that Rove, Limbaugh, and Gingrich have become the face of the republican party. Or at least they are the only ones who ever get alot of face time on the major news channels, i guess because stirring up **** is good news these days.

Yeah, I read that. He's blaming 9/11 on Clarke and Iraq on Tenet. I thought you were saying he blamed 9/11 on Tenet. Either way, I love watching Cheney flail. Maybe he's forgetting, but he and his buddy were in charge at the time. A true leader accepts the blame for mistakes that were made on their watch. But he's not fooling anybody. What's amazing to me is that Dick ostensibly seems to be striving for damage control, but clearly fails to realize how much worse he's making himself look in the process.

At any rate, I'm still really disappointed that no one brought up Tenet's Medal of Freedom at Cheney's conference. That would have been gold.

Personally, I'd just like to see the republican party just sit back, relax, and shut up for about the next 12 months or so. They don't have the power to do anything anyway, except complain and moan about everything. Its not doing the party any good to have its "leaders" shoot off at the mouth everytime someone sticks a microphone in their face. If the republicans want to regain congress in 2010, they will do so because the voters will vote against the democrats for what they did or didn't do during these two years, not because of anything the republicans did. It is better to be quiet and let others think you are a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I strongly agree with this assessment. They need to handle their identity crisis internally, rather than in public view. There's so much finger-pointing and in-fighting right now that the party will certainly collapse in on itself if this continues.

Another thing that they need to get away from is shoving every brown-faced republican politician in front of a microphone in the hopes of branding 'a new face' on the repub party. Jindal clearly wasn't up to it, and Steele is an embarrassment. I mean, really? 'Hip-hop' republicans? Dude, just stop already. They'll never be able to match the multicultural appeal of the democrats, so it's not wise to waste energy trying to.

Forget true leaders... men stand up and admit when their actions were wrong and accept blame. Unfortunately, very few politicians are men, because being electable depends on the perception that you are infallible.

Subjective? No. It's an objective fact that the Obama Administration is overspending at unprecedented levels along with making true socialistic campaign promises. Reagan is rolling over in his grave.

Did the Bush administration overspend? You bet your ass it did.

I voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004, but that's because his main competition was a liar (Gore didn't invent the internet) and a waffler (Kerry voted for the Iraq War).
