obama openly doesnt give a damn about israel's sovereignty.

he pressures them to weaken national security, change its boundaries while surrendering more land in front of netanyahu's face while giving speeches to the muslim world.

yet when it comes to iran and this islamo-nazi regime, you know the one that puts down its own people, steals an election, threatens its neighbors and funds terrorism to kill american soldiers, he is suddenly quiet and wants to 'respect their sovereignty'.

what the hell is this guy doing. it certainly isnt diplomacy. he's clearly backed himself in a corner with his naive iranian stance. if he speaks out against them now he knows he will look a fool.

So we have Iran, in the midst of a revolution to overthrow a regime that is the bane of the world, yet he sits on his hands refusing to speak out.

amazing to me.

all the american president can say is he has "deep concerns" instead of in no uncertain terms we firmly support anyone that stands against tyranny as well as the suppression of free speech.

this should really help facilitate others on the cusp of doing the same.

Today, he appears, as The New York Times puts it, "as the shrewd and ruthless front man for a clerical military and political elite that is more unified and emboldened than at any time since the 1979 revolution."

There are other reasons Obama should not heed the war hawks howling for confrontation now.

When your adversary is making a fool of himself, get out of the way. That is a rule of politics Lyndon Johnson once put into the most pungent of terms. U.S. fulminations will change nothing in Tehran. But they would enable the regime to divert attention to U.S. meddling in Iran's affairs and portray the candidate robbed in this election, Mir-Hossein Mousavi, as a poodle of the Americans.

Im giving you insight about what some on the other side of the political spectrum are saying.

I agree with the position on Iran. Its a self-inflicted wound that will eventually rot, in that country. Tough talk does nothing but boost the regimes moral and resistence.

I guess I do agree with Buchanan on this one, hes a whack job, but on this matter he has a point.

This is the same guy who made a comment yesterday something to the effect of...people shouldn't blindly put their faith in the market...they should put their faith in the guiding hands of government. WTF!!! It's like leading cattle to the slaughter.

This country had problems for the last four years but now we're in serious trouble!

Maybe we should send ACORN over to Iran to help them out with the election.

The Israeli settlements in the West Bank is not Israeli land and it has always been known that giving them up will be part of any Peace Accord. No US administration, including Bush's, has ever approved of Israel's settlements inside Palestinine territory. This Israel/Palestine conflict is at the root of all of our problems in the Middle East. We need to get it solved we will have to pressure both parties to make serious compromises. Wake up, tirk! You're thinking with your balls again. Rule number one when an enemy is having internal dissent is "don't overtly interfere from the outside". It tends to drive them together instead of drive them apart. The Iranians are fierce nationalists even if they hate each others politics. If the US is seen to get involved, it could kill the revolt. Now, covertly we can be doing a lot to fan the flames, but it cannot be perceived as such by the enemy or it will unite them. They have been here before. The US intervened to put the Shah of Iran on the throne and to keep him in power for 25 years and they revolted against him. Meanwhile he quietly persuaded Twitter not to take a scheduled shutdown to upgrade the system that would have happened this week. Twitter is how the protesters are communicating.

The challenger here has less inflammatory rhetoric, but has a foreign policy regarding nuclear development that is little different from Ahmahnutjob. We don't really want to get all warm and fuzzy about him yet. We may be dealing with him directly in a few years.

Obama is smarter than you, tirk. He is playing both sides against the middle and not taking on the Bogeyman role. Like North Korea, Iran has a discontent and restless citizenry that is unhappy with its government. In both cases the dictators want to make the US into a dangerous threat to divert the anger from themselves. We do not need to play into their game. We want the internal anger to grow there and stay focused on the Iranian government.

Watch and wait. We don't have to make laughable North-Korea-like belligerent threats for them to understand this, tirk. The United States took down countries on both sides of them in this decade and have armies on the ground there. They have not missed the point.

That doesnt make any sense in the world, they have/had held the highest office in the world. That should be the standard here, whether one was terrible or not. They both basically did the samething to the Saudi King.
