Default Guns must be listed on 2010 Tax Returns?

Forwarded Email:
I checked on snopes.com and its true!

Now 'all Guns' must be listed

On your next (2010) tax return!

As if we didn't have enough to get upset about! If you have a gun, I hope it isn't registered!

Senate Bill SB-2099 will require us to put on our 2009 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have or own. It will require fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun.

This bill was introduced on Feb.. 24, 2009, by the Omama staff. BUT . . This bill will only become public knowledge 30 days after the new law becomes effective ! This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act of 1986. This means that the Finance Committee has passed this without the Senate voting on it at all. Trust Obama ? ..... You must be kidding !

The full text of the IRS amendment is on the U.S. Senate homepage,U.S. Senate You know who to call; I strongly suggest you do. Please send a copy of this e-mail to every gun owner you know.

Text of H.R.45 as Introduced in House: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 - U.S.... OpenCongress

It has begun . .. . Whatever Obama's secret Master Plan is....this is just the 'tip of the iceberg!'

Very Important for you to be aware of another new bill HR 45 introduced into the House. This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009.|

Even gun shop owners didn't know about this because the government is trying to fly it under the radar as a 'minor' IRS revision, and, as usual, the 'political' lawmakers did not read this bill before signing and approving it !

To find out about this - go to any government website and type in HR 45 or Google HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information.

Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless:

-It is registered -You are fingerprinted -You supply a current Driver's License -You supply your Social Security # -You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing -Each update - change of ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25 - Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail. -There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. -They would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. In prison.

If you think this is a joke - go to the website and take your pick of many opt- ions to read this.. It is long and lengthy. But, more and more people are becoming aware of this. Pass the word along. Any hunters in your family pass this along.|

This is just a "termite" approach to complete confiscation of guns and disarming of our society to the point we have no defense - chip away a little here and there until the goal is accomplished before anyone realizes it.

This is one to act on whether you own a gun or not..

Senate Bill SB-2099 e-mails are a hoax

In recent weeks, people from all over Ohio have been bombarding us with copies of a hoax e-mail about Senate Bill SB-2099.

The e-mail warns that SB-2099 would require you to list all guns on your IRS income tax return.

No matter how many times we explain that this e-mail is a hoax, people just keep forwarding it to us. The NRA reports it's getting hundreds of these forwarded e-mails.

Trust us. This is a hoax. We've checked it out. The NRA has checked it out.

The bill was real nine years ago, but it died having never been voted on. It's possible that pro-gun people don't know it's a dead bill. Or it's possible anti-gun people are trying to mess with their enemies. Either way, we implore you ...

STOP SENDING THIS BOGUS E-MAIL ABOUT SB-2099!
Not only will forwarding it make you look silly. Sending it to large groups of people could annoy those who have seen this a dozen times already and result in someone reporting you as a spammer. Internet Service Providers take this very seriously.

What follows is some background information on this persistent e-mail hoax on SB-2099.

Explanation by the NRA.

History of this e-mail hoax.

[B]here is the snopes article on it.

Senate Bill SB-2099 gun control via IRS?
Yes! That’s what they are doing…

GUN Control via IRS Senate Bill SB-2099 will require us to put on our 2009 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have or own. It may require fingerprints. And a tax of $50 per gun. This bill was introduced on Feb. 24. This bill will Become public knowledge 30 days after it is voted into law.

This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act of 1986. This means that the Finance Committee can pass this without the Senate voting on it at all. The full text of the proposed amendment is on the U.S. Senate homepage, U.S. Senate You can find the bill by doing a search by the bill Number, SB-2099. You know who to call; I strongly suggest you do.

FULL ANSWER

S. 2099 (not "SB" 2099) was introduced Feb. 24, 2000, by Democratic Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island. He called it the "Handgun Safety and Registration Act of 2000," and as the title implies it would have applied only to handguns, not to "all guns you have or own."
It’s true that the bill would have required owners of handguns to register them with the federal government within one year, under the 1934 National Firearms Act (which is part of the Internal Revenue Code). That law requires a federal permit to own a machine gun, a sawed-off rifle or shotgun, or a silencer. Reed said in a news release that in practical terms, handgun owners would need to fill out a registration form, get fingerprinted by local law enforcement officials and obtain a local "Law Enforcement Certification." These would be sent to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, along with a recent photo (2 inches by 2 inches) and a $5 registration fee.

False Claims

The bill would indeed have required a $50 tax on each handgun, but it would have been a one-time tax, not an annual tax. And it would have been imposed on the manufacturer, not on the owner as erroneously claimed in the e-mail. That cost would no doubt have been passed on to buyers in the form of a higher price for each new handgun, but handgun owners would not have been required to record their guns on their annual federal income tax forms, as wrongly claimed in the e-mail.

Another false claim is that the bill "will become public knowledge 30 days after it is voted into law." In fact, it was public knowledge as soon as Reed introduced it and announced that in the Congressional Record. The claim that the "Finance Committee can pass this without the Senate voting on it at all" is nonsense, as any high-school civics student should know. It would have become law if passed both by the full House and Senate and signed into law by the president.

That didn’t happen. The bill was referred to the Senate Finance Committee, and it eventually attracted two cosponsors. But when the 106th Congress adjourned at the end of 2000, the bill died without getting so much as a subcommittee hearing, let alone a vote. Reed has not reintroduced the bill since then.

i can buy that, but still...

" This bill will only become public knowledge 30 days after the new law becomes effective"

please. a secret bill that evil obama slips through, regarding gun control, one of the most contentious issues possible?

the guy who wrote this knows the fears of god-fearing gun-toting conservative white america and is clearly exploiting them. like any good myth.

i know the mainstream media is a failure. but they are not such a failure that huge news like this would only come to you in the form of a chain email.

More psycho ultra right wing propaganda trying to scare the masses into siding with them in their hatred of the President. This is so very lame that 1) it is even in existence and floating around out there in cyberspace and 2) that people are so very willing to want to believe it's true that they'd spread it around without even verifying it first even though it doesn't sound right to a person with even average intelligence.

Before you start, I am NOT liberal. I just hate that conservatism has come to be associated with this type of scare tactics to convince people in the middle that liberalism is evil and that Obama is Satan. These are the same people spreading the "information" that he has a Kenyan birth certificate, that's he's Islamic, etc. etc. The people who post this on forums and forward the emails irresponsibly are as bad as the morons who initiated it.
