Default Re: Why I am thankful for President Obama

The solution, just do this to make yourself feel better each and every day.

When you turn on your computer, open up a new file - call it President Barack Obama - send it 2 your recycling bin - empty recycle bin - PC will ask if you want to delete President Barack Obama - Firmly click "yes" - feel better now, good - tomorrow we will work on the rest of congress and the senate.

I believe many of our own soldiers would disagree with you and I would value their opinion over yours as I'm pretty certain their contributions to this country (and the world) are far greater than yours.
I 100% disagree with the assessment that Iraq was a "failure". Landmark elections were just held. Let's at least wait until we've left and how well the country is able to hold up on its own before we decide whether it is a "success" or a "failure".

If you ask me, a failure would constitute pulling all our troops out as quickly as possible and leaving the country in worse shape than it was before. By all accounts (and my own personal experience), I'd say it wasn't a failure at all. And I think the same should be applied to Afghanistan, when the time comes.

it is debatable that there has been or will be any positive result from the war. for me thats not worth the $ and effort that could have been expended elsewhere.

So the dollar is stronger than what?

What we base the strength of our dollar on is by the world economy, exchange rates, and gold.

Well gold is through the roof, and the world economy sucks so bad there are countries in Europe right now threatening default. So yeah, I guess the dollar is stronger, but only figuratively. Once the rest of the world economy picks back up and inflation rises to the moon and taxes increase to pay for Washington spending, the dollar will be worthless. We better hope that China holds onto the treasury bills that they currently own too, or that will even further depress the dollar in the world market.

China has to hold on to their treasuries. Where else are they going to park 1 trillion dollars? They also cannot afford to have the dollar tank. Their entire economy is basedo n us buying their cheap crap. If we can't but it they can't eat.

China has already sold back over 50billion in bonds since january 1. I don't think it is out of the question that they get out of US treasuries altogether. US-China relations are very strained especially with the US-Taiwain arms deal.

I can't think of any period in history where the two greatest superpowers on the planet didn't have some sort of confrontation. Allowing the Chinese to have the ability to wreck the US economy is a terrible idea and the idea that they would never do it is stretching it.

In most war game scenarios that I have read about the US military makes the assumption that China forces the dollar down considerably although never to zero.

50 billion is nothing. Where would the Chinese park their trillion dollars? There is nothing as safe as the treasury. Nothing. No debate.

Why would they do it. It would wreck their economy. Completely.

along these lines, only kucinich could be so liberal as to make the pubs side with obama....

Quote:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – In a test of congressional support for President Barack Obama's new Afghanistan strategy, lawmakers are set to vote on Wednesday on a resolution that would direct him to pull U.S. forces out of the war.

The resolution by liberal Democratic Representative Dennis Kucinich is not expected to pass. But it could be an important indicator of how Obama's Democrats feel about the war, particularly ahead of November congressional elections in which Republicans are expected to make gains.

Quote:
Republicans, whose leaders sided with Obama in his surge strategy, are expected to mostly oppose Kucinich's measure.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100310/...n_usa_congress

this may placate the left wing of the democratic party, but will do nothing to win over the moderates. the moderates are the ones getting fed up and the party is losing. this could make the congressional elections even worse for the dems. i think it could make obama to appear moderate on foreign affairs by opposing the liberal base of the party, but right now the dems need to concentrate on not losing congressional and senate seats.

i really think this could hurt the dems in congress. i dont think it will have any effect on obama. it may piss off the liberals, but when it comes down to it, it wont effect him cause he isnt up for reelection in the fall. however, the dems in congress that are this is not helping.

right now, the congressional dems....

Not the point. They are submitting the bill knowing it has no chance. They are fiddling while Rome burns.

Only uninformed nimrods want the troops out prematurely.

Only uninformed nimrods want the troops in an un-declared war costing over $1 Trillion dollars a year.

Other than a few cents in gas and some time in airport security, what do you care? It's easy to sit in your own righteous indignation filth and wring your hands of the whole thing because you don't support it. I mean, hell - let's just stop now and bring the boys home.
