On Malcolm Jenkins' holdout:

Quote:
Contract negotiations between the Saints and Jenkins’ agent Ben Dogra have left team general manager Mickey Loomis “pessimistic” about a deal being reached.

Jenkins was the 14th overall pick out of Ohio State. Washington defensive end Brian Orakpo, the 13th pick, and Houston linebacker Brian Cushing, the 15th pick, share the same representation as Jenkins — and they are both signed and in camp.
Saints continue work in Jenkins’ absence | HoumaToday.com | The Courier | Houma, LA

Dogra can get the 13th and 15th picks into camp on time, but can't get anything done with number 14?

Apparently Malcolm Jenkins was playing with the first string defense at nickleback. Not bad for a kid who just joined the team last Monday.

During the evening session, he picked off a Matt Schaub pass and returned it 70 yards.

Bobby McCray....roving elephant:

Quote:
The Saints threw a variety of defensive looks at the Bills, some that included four linebackers and four defensive backs, some that included three linebackers and five defensive backs and some that included end Bobby McCray in a roving "elephant" linebacker role.
New Orleans Saints bring back 3-4 defense, and Jonathan Vilma's all for it | New Orleans Saints Central - - NOLA.com

I think this could be the beginning of a fan identity for McCray.

Good article here on how Payton is maturing as a head coach:

New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton shows maturity regarding kicker situation: Jeff Duncan | New Orleans Saints Central - - NOLA.com

Remember two years ago, Saints hosting Bucs? Trying to protect a slim lead in the 4th, SP called a reverse on 3rd and short. He took a lot of heat after Bush and Henderson flubbed the exchange, TB recovered the fumble and drove for the game winning score. The following week at Atl, 1st offensive series and on the first play, Payton called the same reverse from our own 20. It seemed like a childish slap at his critics to me....but it appears he's growing into the job. We've got one of the best in the business now.

Saints not showing any offense and no defense. I expected a mediocre defense, but the poor offense surprises me.

Complete first quarter domination on both sides of the ball by the Cowboys. I hope the Saints wake up.

How funny is this? The Cowboys cut kicker Nick Folk after he missed the chip shot FG against us, and signed the guy the Redskins cut 2 weeks ago for missing a chip shot field goal against us!

Would be nice if the Saints could get Chad Jones in the Draft.
