Saints sign Kyle Eckel
to replace Heath Evans
5'11" 237 lbs Played for New England on that 2007 team along with Heath Evans (wonder if Evans recommended him?). Played for Navy in his collegiate career. I just hope he can block somewhere close to what we got from Evans. Evans pass catching ability will be missed as well. He added yet another dimension to this offense in that capacity.

I think Evans was better than Karney. Evans could catch the ball out of the backfield, Karney really wasn't a factor.

Evans isn't the blocker Karney was, but there's a huge difference in the playmaking option he gives us. Being a Naval Academy guy, I would expect Eckel to be a 110%'er.

Per Mike Detillier when asked about recently acquired fullback Eckel he replied, "He looks like he has been involved in this offense for a while."
