Mr. McLane, you can make up all the past 2 years' transgressions with this one signing.
He only commands about 14 mil per year, you'll get him for the next year and a half. You'll have a starting 3 of Halladay, Oswalt and Rodriguez to give you a legit chance to make hay come playoff time. Berkman is hitting again and the lineup is actually appearing to be a bit dangerous. Do it, you idiot.

If the Stros didn't have the prospects for Peavy, why would they have enough for a much better pitcher in Halladay?

If the Rangers are smart, they get Halladay.
They've needed a great pitcher since Ryan retired. Texas becomes a legit contender if they get him.

point taken. I go with Halladay just because he has to face the Yankees, Rays and Sox a ton each season.
you can't go wrong with either.

Well the Stros start off the 2nd half of the season in fine style shutting out the best team in the NL (Dodgers) on the road with Wandy starting.
Wandy is coming into his own as a strong #2 starter (would have had him as a #3 starting the season). Oswalt will most likely kill the 2nd half of the season, as he appears to have done the past few seasons after slow starts. The problem is no one is really worth anything after that. Moehler has pitched much better the past 2 months, but I don't know if he can hold up. He I guess will be an ok #5 pitcher. Filling in for #3 and #4 is a problem. I don't trust Hampton and I certainly don't trust Ortiz. He will certainly implode the 2nd half of the season. Paulino hasn't done much at all in his starts. Time to get Halladay and make a run for the playoffs. I love Halladay, Oswalt and Rodriguez, come playoff time. Add to that a very good and deep bullpen with Byrdak, Arias, Sampson, Hawkins and Valverde. One of the deepest bullpens in the majors, actually. Fulchino in long relief to top it all off and he has done well in that role. I would like to see Sampson start in the place of Ortiz. Move Ortiz into long relief (hide him) and Fulchino can take over Sampson's role.

I'm not the GM.
This douchebag named Wade gets paid lots of money to make shyt like this happen. I don't count on him doing anything this July, however.

Astros well on their way to beating the Dodgers again, scoring 6 runs in the first 2 innings off the Dodger ace Billingsley.
Now tied for 2nd in the division, just 3 behind the Cards.

Teams with MUCH better farm systems than Houston's are having trouble coming up with the stable of talent Toranto is asking for.
The cupboard is pretty bare for the 'Stros (although they have a couple of guys having better seasons than anticipated in the minors). Not a chance in hell they could get this deal done.

Halliday will become either a Yankee or a Red Sock come July 31st.

possible, but I have my doubts. Boston probably has most to offer, but Theo hasn't exactly been willing to part with the level of prospects that Halladay would cost them. Yanks will make a push, just not sure what they have to give in a trade. There chances would be much better if he were a free agent and it just cost the Yanks money. He's got full no-trade clause, so he has the final say. Not sure who he'll go to, but I'm confident it'll be a team in the AL (sorry Philly fans). Don't think he's interested in having to bat at this stage of his career. And I'm pretty sure he wants to go to a contender. originally I thought there was no way he'd go in the division, but Buck Martinez had a good point the other day. In a year and a half, he'll be a free agent and sign with either NY or Boston. So why not trade him there, and at least take some of their prospects to better your own team.

stupid yankees should offer up joba and hughes right now. may as well throw in cano.
the astros couldnt get halladay if they offered their entire farm system. jr towles and bogusevic are average players at best. not sure why anyone thinks this is viable in any capacity.

Would the Jays really consider trading their franchise pitcher to a division rival? I'm not buying it.
He'll end up in Anaheim or Philly if he goes anywhere--maybe Milwuakee but they'd have to give up Alcides Escobar or Gamel.

If Philly gets him, I think they become the favorite to win it all again.
But that's only if Lidge gets past his mental/physical problems. That's a huge if. Hamel should be back to form by September.
