You the blond in the middle?
Colorado is a fun place in the summer. Did you have a good time? Where'd you go?

We were visiting my cousin in Farmington, NM. In between catching limits of Sac-a-lait at Navaho Lake, we drove up to Ouray, CO via Durango and Silverton. That was my first time IN the mountains and I was awestruck. Pictures do not do it justice.

Family lived in Breckenridge and Pueblo for yrs until they recently moved back to Abita Springs. No place better on earth. If you ever get the chance go check out Redstone. They have the most beautiful Bed and Breakfast there, nestled right in the side of a mountain. Its called Avalanch Ranch, check it out on the web. Also the Red Stone Castle is really cool. The village is a Christmas town, it looks like Christmas 365. All the shops sell all sorts of Christmas novalties made by the locals.

Big by Henderson standards, not so much by Sam Rayburn standards. I'd guess 10-12 inches. I'll post a picture if I can.

Re: Picture from Colorado
Wife and I have been deliberating on moving to Buena Vista - Salida area. Last year we rented a house during the summer in Poncha Springs, sharing the place with friends from Australia.
Being on the Arkansas river in June is a real treat to a white-water enthusiast like myself. However, the flow rate was over 28,500 cps last year. Too dangerous. ![]() |

Mountains always take my breath away with their majesty, something we flat-land dwellers don't get to experience every day. My favorite range is the Sierra Nevadas. I can't decide if Yosemite is the most beautiful place I've ever seen or if Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe is. Both are absolutely stunning.

The best mountain drive in these here United States is the Beartooth Highway from Red Lodge, Montana to the north gates of Yellowstone Park.

in january i flew out to las vegas then drove home. what was probably the most beautiful part of the trip was through the nevada and arizona mountains. unfortunately, i missed it because we left vegas that evening and that part of the drive was in the dark. at times i could see silhouettes of the mountains from the moonlight and even that was beautiful. that is, when i let my self even look. icy spots on mountain roads, dark, and a brand new truck, i was afraid to take my eyes off the road 99% of the time.
now i am kicking myself for not spending the night in vegas so i could enjoy the scenery of the drive the next day.

My father has a place in Pagosa Springs, Colorado about 60 miles east of Durango. We visit there about every 3 to 4 years (will probably go this summer). I've fished in the Navajo Resevoir (had to buy fishing licenses for both Colorado and New Mexico). We caught Pike, trout and salmon of all things. They stock the place with salmon. Colorado is a nice place and very dry. My sinuses go crazy going from this humid climate to there.
