Wow...just Wow...

Killed in action the week before, the body of Sergeant First Class John C. Beale was returned to Falcon Field in Peachtree City, Georgia, just south of Atlanta, on June 11, 2009 .

The Henry County Police Department escorted the procession to the funeral home in McDonough, Georgia .

A simple notice in local papers indicated the route to be taken and the approximate time.
Nowadays one can be led to believe that America no longer respects honor and no longer honors sacrifice outside the military.

Be it known that there are many places in this land where people still recognize the courage and impact of total self-sacrifice. Georgia remains one of those graceful places.

Amazing. The fire departments bringing out those bucket trucks and crossing them over the road like sabers was a damn nice touch.

I have to tell you that once I opened this I could not stop it in spite of standing in the Nashville Airport waiting to board a plane. What an emotional piece. I stood there with my eyes swelling from the emotion.

You all need to watch this powerful message.

I've posted this b4, however, its well worth repeating. Never pass up the opportunity to thank someone in uniform when you run into them for serving our country. Its the very least that each of us can do.

Wow.. The Vietnam Vets next to their rides saluting... Now that was awesome.

Had a similar send off today for a Guard MP unit today, as they were leaving town.

And I have to say that what really gets me is the "Honor Flights". That is a group that flies our WWII vets to Washington to see the WWII memorial. There has been 2 so far from here, and more planned. The whole community turns out to greet and thank them when they return.

I agree with you Hatcher, I tell people whenever I see them thanks. We have a local unit over there now, two of the men are daddies of some day care kids, so I know them pretty good. A few others are kids that my kids went to school with. I worry about them all the time.

I would like to thank all the brave men and women who are serving and protecting our great country. Thank you for all that you do. I am praying that you come home safe. GOD BLESS YOU.

We get military escorts at work off flights. I always remove my hat and say a little prayer.

A few weeks ago I pushed back an airplane before the escort left a United flight. As we came to our stop point the escort was moving but stopped since all vehicle ground movement gives way to aircraft. I asked the captain to hold so I could signal the escort to move past us and he agreed...then he switched on all landing lights and extended all flaps as a salute.
