I don't know any comforting words that really does the trick, but know that even when you feel your lowest, there are hundreds of us here that are keeping you, your mom and your entire family in our daily prayers.
Wishing you and yours all the best.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at a time like this. Be thankful that you will be with her, and able to say goodbye. I think that is what a lot of people have the most reqrets about, the fact that they did not get to say goodbye.
Seems like you have a lot of Tiger Friends on this forum. Believe them when they say that you can call anytime. People want to help, and sometimes it helps just to be able to talk with someone outside of the family, because you feel like you have to be so strong for family members, and with a friend you can let go.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a little teary eyed reading this thread. Just remember not to be too sad when your mom passes, be happy and take comfort in knowing that she is going to a better place. I truly believe that what God has greater things instore for us once our time here on earth has expired. She isn't leaving you and your family for good, it's just a momentary parting. She'll be waiting. May God bless you and your family, BayareaT.

God be with you and your family....
This post has really gotten to me. It's times like this when I feel there is some hope for humanity: When a group of people can get upset about a man and his family whom no one has met and who lives 3000 miles away...

My mom worked her tail off to help put four boys through LSU, three months after the youngest one (me) finished she died of a very unexpected heart attack. Glad I took the time on many occasions to tell her how much I loved her. You are so right that we all need to take the time to say and do the things for the people closest to us to let them know how special they are. I will pray for your mom's healing and failing that, that she rest eternally with God , The Almighty. Peace.

To all who posted the very kind replies to my original post:
GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.
My dear mom passed last Wednesday at 4:30PM, about 26 hours after I had arrived. She was unresponsive by the time I saw her, but I am sure she heard me as I told her how much I loved her and how much she meant to us all.
She was a witty and bright "country girl" from Kentwood who cared for
EVERYONE around her.
She was 69 years old and had smoked for 55 of those years.
The cancer formed a tumor in her brain that would take her from us.
We buried her next to my dad in Resthaven on Saturday the 18th.
We had buried my father there 28 years ago.
Last Wednesday was the second toughest day of my life after the
day that my dad passed away suddenly in September 1976.
Both my parents came from large families, almost all local, so there is much love, support, and sympathy from my aunts, uncles, cousins, and local friends.
In times like this it is impossible to measure how important that love is.
It is wonderful to be HOME here in BR for Christmas.
To my online family here at TF:
Your kind and comforting words brought tears to my eyes.
I truly wish all of you the best Christmas ever.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, bayareatiger and we wish you and your family all the best.
I lost my grandfather around Christmas time, too. I was only in the 6th grade, but being the first grandchild, let alone the first boy (my grandparents had 4 girls), I was very, very close to him. But I know how the loss at holiday season feels and I hope you and your family rely on one another to make it thru, no matter what happens.
It's good to see you back again.
