Garrett Temple has had work outs with Houston, Portland, Oklahoma City, Sacramento, San Antonio, and Boston. All of which said they were not expecting him to be the best player they invited to play, but he was by far the best. They are impressed with his 6'11 wing span and did not know he was as quick/athletic as he is. He has also been knocking down his jumpers, and that was what teams were most concerned about. Im not sayin he will get drafted, but @ the same time i wont be surprised to see him get drafted late in the 2nd round are get picked up after the draft... Good luck G

That's exciting to hear. Although I think he will struggle a bit to find a place I do believe he has the talent. I'd like to see him with the Hornets.

no chance he'll be drafted. but he'll likely sign with someone. long defenders able to work on the perimeter are valuable and if youve watched some of the nba playoffs youll see that just about every team plays guys with major holes in their game.

As much as I love Temple, if he makes an NBA roster he'll have a very limited role as a defensive stopper. He was already a bad shooter and college and that doesn't translate well in the NBA. Best of luck to him though

He was relegated to PG for a while, and that diminished the number of shots that he took. He knocked down some big shots in his day.
Glan Davis didn't have the best mid-long range J in college, and he routinely knocks these shots down for Boston. Garrett will definitely have a chance to play somewhere. |

Garrett was sh!t on by most LSU fans for his 1st couple of years. Most of them have let that go.

I don't think he will be drafted but a FA contract is likely.
Shooting can be corrected and will be his focus if he wants to get some PT on the next level.

There are only 60 picks in the NBA Draft and he's just not one of the 60 best players in the draft.
He'll be a free agent who will have to play well in the summer camps to make a roster spot in training camp.

you got the wrong guy with that one. but the 3pt % is fact. you care to offer some fact based evidence for why he is a good shooter or you want to keep on with the passive-aggressive pansy jabs?

Wow! Pretty strong reaction from a guy who does nothing but yank chains around here. And 30% from the 3 point line is not that bad. I should add that I hate basketball and, except for LSU, I never, ever watch a game.

He shot 25% freshman year, 27% soph, and just about 30% from 3 his last 2 years.

Garrett is a quality individual. I don't think he'll be drafted but I hope he can tag onto a team as a FA. Glad to hear he is impressing some.

I think it is highly unlikely that he gets drafted, but there isn't very much difference between a 2nd round pick and a FA contract in the association. If a particular team really likes him they may take a shot. |

30% from the college 3 = probably 20-22% on the NBA line against NBA defenders.

When you look at what teams need often times they are looking for potential and players that fit roles--especially in a free agent pick up. Also don't underestimate the need for a lock down defender. It's not always about what you can do on the offensive end, if you can neutralize (or even slow down) a Kobe Bryant or Carmelo--especially if you put Garrett on a team that already has three primary scorers. Take for example a Bruce Bowen for San Antonio, Raja Bell for Phoenix, or Royal Ivey for Phily. All more defensive-minded shooting guards that can give you 10-15 minutes (or more) off the bench. Also, what helps Temple is that he showed he could play some point. Sure folks are going to be concerned with his shooting, but if he can show that he can become a better jump shooter, he has a chance given his ability to do other things on the court. |

i fear that he would have to completely breakdown his form and relearn how to shoot to get much better (like Deek pointed out, he's had tons of time). his j has no more arc than manute bol's did.

agree, that GT will likely be a pick-up after the draft and then make a team as a role player. sure hope he makes it. great young man from a great family. there have been many role players that eventually cash in - would love to see that for GT. if teams really feel he is the best they are seeing during workouts for the lower round players though, why not take a chance with a 2nd pick? |
