Arkansas got a tough draw. I think Southern Miss beats Texas.

To me, the LSU/Virgin(ia) game is the best matchup.

i think that arkansas matches up good enough with fullerton. they could beat them. especially if fullerton gets all cocky about playing (LOL) arkansas!

best matchup, IMO, would be LSU and UNC. why do you think virginia is a good matchup? virginia is one team that i do not think LSU matches up well against. this is a team with a dominant starting pitcher (regardless of if he's left or right,) and they're a team that offensively will frustrate you. LSU doesn't do well when it faces a team like virginia. (*cough* VANDY *cough*) virginia is a team that wins close games. LSU, on the other hand, is a team that often struggles in close games. virginia doesn't give up big innings. LSU thrives on big innings. i just don't like this matchup at all.

Still a young team and even if their ace is Superman, he's still a freshman. If LSU can get some momentum going early I can see Virginia getting rattled on a big stage like the CWS.

thank god texas plays on the second day. maybe their fans will stay away the first day so i dont have to put up with em.

they are the most arrogant, obnoxious, rude fans i have ever encountered. in 05 at the cws i got to where i just wanted to slap all of em just for the hell of it they were so obnoxious and rude.

I have heard that about them....But CANNOT be worst than having to put up with USC fans every other year, they are absolutely THE WORST.

gotcha, man. it'll be a competitive game, that's for sure.

i'm looking forward to see how/if ranaudo handles them. likewise, i hope we can get some offense and minimize mistakes. i'm not knocking jmitch, but i'd seriously think hard about starting landry over mitchell. not only because he's a lefty, but because i think his bat is just plain better. mitch cannot hit a breaking ball to save his life. plus he Ks a lot. he has speed on the base pads, but he's been taking too many chances. i'd rather someone fly out with a runner on base than someone strike out in the same situation.

Mitchell's base running has been a little sloppy as of late. He sometimes relies too much on his speed (he's got a lot of it, granted) and just makes some bone headed plays. I really haven't had much opportunity to see Landry this year, outside of the first game. What happened with him?

I'm confident Ranaudo can keep the game close, at the very least. I wouldn't be surprised to see UVA put up a run or two early, but I think if we can get to their bullpen by the 6th, we will be able to eat through a 2 or 3 run lead, IF they can put one up.
