Brown Pepper: Weekend Series Thread

First up tonight @ 7, Brown out of the Ivy league. Their season started just a few hours ago, beating the Fightin' Peppers 8-7 after being down 7-4 heading into the 8th.

We play Pepperdine again tomorrow @ 7 (after they play each other again) and Brown again on sunday @ 12. No TV.

"This weekend will provide our team with a tremendous challenge," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. "Both Pepperdine and Brown have excellent clubs, and we'll certainly have to be at our best to win these games. Pepperdine is a program that has won the College World Series (1992), and they are perennially one of the best teams on the West Coast. Brown is one of the top clubs in the Ivy League; they set a school record last season with a 15-5 record in conference play."

Although not officially given a name, this is pretty much an Alex Box Invitational Tournament, similar to the recent Auburn Tournament and Vandy's Music City Classic this weekend.

Three teams--LSU, Pepperdine (Malibu, CA), and Brown (Providence, RI)--play six games in the Box over four days (Thursday to Sunday). Each team plays each other twice in the Box. The two Brown vs. Pepperdine games in the Box are free admission.

Note that LSU plays one game each day, while Brown plays a double-header today, and Pepperdine plays a double-header tomorrow.
