Terrance Toliver and Dennis Harris Incident

Charged with misdemeanors last night but not arrested.

Terrence Toliver, LSU’s leading returning wide receiver was tased by police officers after getting into a fight last night at 2:00a.m. outside Fred's bar in the Tigerland area, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department spokesperson.

Toliver and LSU freshman basketball player Dennis Harris were issued citations by police.

Toliver is charged with disturbing the peace, public intoxication and resisting an officer.

Don't expect much to come of it given Tolliver has never had any issues before and he told Miles he was breaking up a fight when these incidents occurred.

It has been a long time since I've read ANYTHING about LSU football players in trouble. Hope he doesn't miss much Spring - if any. Wonder if Xavier Carter was there...

given toliver hasnt shown himself to be a trouble maker in the past, i want to believe what he says about breaking it up.

and bandit is right. its been a long time since we have heard anything like this about players in the lsu football program. that makes me proud of the character of the young men miles and company seem to be recruiting and type of program they are running. i mean i know no program, including ours, is spotless, but thank god we arent gangsta u.

and that a prius wasnt involved.

Dismissing Perriloux got everybody's attention and the team started behaving themselves. I expect Les to treat this seriously to keep things that way. The police don't Taze you for trying break up a fight. They do it when you get beligerent in their face and resist arrest.

Tolliver will receive some kind of discipline.

THere is always more to the story and he did resist an officer. However, I have seen people tased for no reason at all. With no arrest, I don't see much coming of it.

Technically it was an arrest; a misdemeanor summons. He will still have to go to court, if it isn't tossed out before then.

I understand all of that but my point is that the cops did not see it necessary to book them. I see Toliver possibly sitting out a few practices.

Fitting with what you said earlier, there are relatively few misdemeanors that can land someone in Parish Prison. Also, his status would be considered. It's possible that Miles will take this as a chance to set an example, but I think Tolliver will just be in the doghouse awhile.

Resisting arrest is one of them given I have seen quite a few booked for less in that parking lot. But Toliver is a mild mannered kid who has never been in any kind of trouble. I don't see him taking an extended stay in the doghouse regardless of what Miles does to address this issue. Same could be said about Harris from what I gather.

i agree on that part. make an example by jumping all over the kid and make him pay some sort of consequence, no matter how small. also use it to make toliver think before he gets in this kind of situation again.

and i really hope that for his part, it was nothing more than a bit of stupidity. i really want to believe it is nothing more than that.

The odds are on his side because he's never been in very serious trouble before, at least nothing that garnered police attention or gave the university a bad name. However, if it becomes recurring problem, he'll become another Perilloux.

I think another Perilloux is a stretch but I get your point. He would have to do a lot wrong over the next 9 months to get to that status given he will be in the NFL next year. That would be an epic meltdown to go from no trouble whatsoever to RP.

I was told , from a BR cop, that there was a fight, and a pretty good one,between another person and one of the two Harris or Toll., Police tried to break it up and Tolliver swatted around and got combative and was tazed. He then got back up with the leads dtill in him and started to walk off and was told to stop , He uttered something like Fyou and continued to walk away and was tazed a second time and that time he stayed down. Harris was enticing ( sorry on spelling) the crowd and was told to let it go or he was going down.
Now Im not a hot-air blower and dont want to be flamed, just what I was told. He has been a good guy and probably just got to fired up in the brawl. Young guys get into it all the time, Slap his wrist , run the bleachers and then chew on him real good, he will be fine

That is how I imagined it went down. Same ole story in that lot.

And then go to the bottom of the depth chart and catch passes from the walk-on quarterback for a while. Good excuse to let the youngsters get more scrimmage reps while Tolliver has to dress out and just stand around contemplating better places to be at 2 AM than face-down tazed in the Fred's parking lot and on the front page of the Sunday paper.
